Error characterization and calibration of real-time magnetic field measurement systems

In synchrotrons at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), magnetic measurement systems known as B-trains measure field in main bending magnets real-time, and transmit this signal control of synchrotron’s RF accelerating cavities, magnet power converter beam monitoring systems. This work presents an assessment capabilities performance new FIRESTORM (Field REal-time STreaming from Online Reference Magnets) system part first phase commissioning. A short summary architecture is provided first, followed by definition error model which can be used to characterize random systematic errors separately. We present a procedure metrological calibration qualification B-trains, including experimental evaluation different sources four being commissioned Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB), Low Energy Ion Ring (LEIR), (PS) Extra ENergy Antiproton (ELENA) ring. particular, we discuss method calibrate gain offset based on cavity frequency needed center its theoretical orbit.
